Extra Curricular
Here at Christ Church CE Academy we take pride in offering our pupils the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We provide a range of opportunities to nurture, develop and stretch pupils' talents and interests.
At the end of Key Stage 2, children get the chance to experience a residential trip. In November 2024 our Year 6 pupils went to Newby Wiske Hall in Northallerton. The activity centre based at the hall, ran by PGL, offers lots of adventurous activities such as abseiling, laser tag, trapeze and a vertical challenge. The trip has proven a real highlight for pupils providing them with an exciting opportunity to develop their confidence, independence and teamwork skills as well as celebrate their time at Christ Church.
Specialist Coaches and Tutors
We employ specialist coaches and tutors from Pennine Sports Partnership to support our curriculum during and after school hours.
PE Mindful
Active lessons helping young children to develop good mental health and well being with the introduction of age appropriate mindfulness. Lessons include aspects of Pilates, Yoga and Meditation.
Social PE
Pupils develop social skills such as conflict resolution, teamwork, communication and trust to improve classroom behaviours and performance. Structured lessons embed routines and encompass core school values.
Healthy Lifestyles
Increased knowledge of a good diet and why it is important for long-term health. Children gain the understanding of food groups, hydration and are able to select appropriate meals that they enjoy. Giving the pupils the skills to make healthy choices in future.
The school holds competitive fixtures against other schools which take place after school in sports such as cycling, tennis, football, netball, athletics, cricket and swimming.
